Astris Finance was incorporated in 2000 as a US LLC domiciled in Washington DC, USA. Astris maintains a permanent staff that constitutes the Execution Group, based in Washington, Mexico and Paris. All support activities are orchestrated from Washington DC. Astris management receives strategic guidance and support from the Company’s Advisory Board. Our Advisory Board gathers a select number of highly qualified senior professionals with diverse backgrounds in the financing, government and industry spheres. Where relevant, Astris Finance also relies on a network of sector specialists associated with the firm.

Senake Gajameragedara
Director

Senake joined Astris in 2011. Senake has over 10 years of extensive experience in the development and finance of power generation plants in the US market. Prior to joining Astris Finance, Senake was Finance Manager at Competitive Power Ventures, a natural gas and wind generation developer and asset manager owned by Warburg Pincus, with responsibility for commercial and financial development of CPV’s Mid-Atlantic region 2,400MW project portfolio. Mr. Gajameragedara was deeply involved in project development at CPV, including detailed financial analysis of projects, the review of generation and cooling technologies, and plant configuration, as well as in the negotiation of off-take contracts with utilities and site-related tax and water agreements with local governments.

Previous to CPV, Mr. Gajameragedara worked as M&A advisor at US based advisory firm Navigant Consulting, where he worked on close to USD 5 billion of acquisition transactions in the US power generation sector. His work there included the performance of asset valuation for generation plants and PPAs, the analysis of the regulatory impact of transactions, and the coordination of acquisition advisory mandates for large investor-owned utilities and IPP’s.

Key mandates included the USD 2.65 bn closed sale of PEPCO’s generation asset portfolio to Southern Energy; the USD 2.1 bn closed sale of certain assets of Sithe Energy to Reliant Energy; and the USD 170 m closed sale of the interests of CH Energy and RG&E in Nine Mile Point Unit 2 to Constellation Nuclear.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Gajameragedara has had execution responsibility on key projects and mandates and has directly reported to or interfaced with C-level executives and senior management.

Senake holds a Master of Arts degree in Energy and International Finance from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics from Middlebury College.
