Astris Finance is very active in the transportation segment, a sector we know particularly well for having been involved in over 20 transactions since we started the Company including roads, rail, urban systems such as metros, tramways or BRTs, ports, airports and related services such as ticketing under a variety of forms (project finance, securitization), roles (debt and equity raising, bidding processes, privatization programs), and legal frameworks (concessions, Public Private Partnerships, private operations):

  • When projects involve demand risk, we have the technical background it takes to review and assess the reliability of demand or traffic studies: growth and correlation hypothesis, value of time and elasticity to tariff considerations, modal competition and transfer, or in the context of ports or airports, market positioning, regional competition, etc.
  • We became experts in P3s and availability-payment schemes, and brought several firsts to the market in Mexico or Peru: assessment of the penalty scheme and mitigation of project performance risk on the financing; on the government side, fiscal, budgetary and consolidation matters are issues we handled in a variety of countries
  • We have the experience and technical background to assess a given project’s specificities in terms of construction risk (complex engineering works, tunnels or bridges, geological risk, etc.) or operation risk (heavy maintenance costs and funding, risk of cost overruns).  We assist Sponsors in the sizing of the credit risk mitigants associated with such risks when we negotiate with arrangers, seek to obtain a credit rating, or market a project towards investors
